Christmas as we know and love it today didn’t exist until the 19th century. Prince Albert, Queen Victoria’s beloved husband, imported a number of Christmas traditions to England from Germany when he decorated the first Christmas tree at Windsor Castle in 1841. This tradition spread like wildfire among the Brits, who then brought it to the United States, where Coca Cola then invented the modern-day Santa in 1931. Find out more about the history of Christmas traditions from my last video for this year, which is my very personal ‘Tour de Noël” that tells the story of Christmas through 7 amazing Christmas-inspired artworks, from Giotto to Banksy and Ed Wheeler.

Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a very happy, healthy, and prosperous 2021!!!

Love,
Lauren
