Hi readers!

It took me a while to write this blog post because I’ve been caught up with significant life events. Now that I’ve finally sat down to reflect on my journey, I wanted to share the experience of completing my Master’s degree with you.

Some of you might already know from my social media accounts that I’ve just completed my Master of Art History degree at The Open University. I thought it would be nice to dedicate a blog post to the graduation ceremony and my journey leading up to it.

Preparation for the big day

The excitement was building inside me as the big day approached. I kept thinking, “I finally made it!” Preparing for the ceremony was a whirlwind of thoughts and emotions.

Traveling to England was an adventure in itself. Being from Bronxville, New York, I had to book a flight across the pond. The journey added to the overall excitement of the occasion.

The ceremony itself

The ceremony took place at the breathtaking Ely Cathedral in Cambridge, England. Surrounded by the architectural marvels of Cambridge, I felt a sense of accomplishment as I crossed the stage to receive my diploma.

A little bit about Ely Cathedral—it’s an ancient abbey built in AD 673 by St. Etheldreda. The stone used for the cathedral was quarried from Barnack and it’s adorned with cruciform cross-shaped plans. Despite the destruction caused by Henry VIII in 1539, the cathedral was refounded in 1541 with a Chapter of eight canons and the Kings School.

Now, back to the ceremony proper—walking towards the stage felt like taking the final few steps toward the finish line. Receiving the diploma and shaking hands with the dignitaries felt like hitting the nail on the head—a true victory!

Reflections on my time at The Open University

The journey wasn’t easy. I faced several challenges, but I flourished thanks to the people surrounding me. I was grateful to meet colleagues who shared the same passion for art and its history. These interactions enriched my learning experience and provided me with significant moments to cherish.

Looking ahead

Now that I’ve obtained my degree, I’m excited about what the future holds. This experience has prepared me for the next chapter in my life and career. I can’t wait to apply what I’ve learned and continue to explore the world of art history.

Thank you for reading this blog post. I hope my story inspires you to pursue your passions and celebrate your achievements, no matter how big or small.

Cheers to new beginnings and endless possibilities!
